Within three days of it’s launch iBooks Textbooks have stacked pretty good numbers on the chart. Around 350,000 copies of textbooks have been downloaded according to AllthingsD via Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry. If these numbers are correct then Apple’s effort to revive textbooks is of to a good start.
“According to Global Equities Research, which monitors Apple’s iBook sales via a proprietary tracking system it doesn’t much care to discuss, more than 350,000 textbooks were downloaded from the company’s iBooks Store within the first three days of availability. And there were some 90,000 downloads of iBooks Author, Apple’s free textbook-creation tool, during the same time.”
On the launch day there were eight books available and one of them is available for free. Though it only contains two chapters, it should be enough to test drive the power of new iBooks Textbooks. It’s not clear how many of 350,000 downloads accounts for paid downloads and how many of these are free book download but rest is assured that there is a great buzz within the education industry world about this new boy in town.
