Path is a popular social networking app available for iOS and Android devices. It is reported that user’s entire Contact/Address Book information is uploaded to their servers and that is causing a bit of a controversy in the media about manipulating user data without their knowledge.
Co-founder and CEO Dave Morin told TechCrunch that it is working to be more transparent in terms of how the company harnesses user-driven data.
“This is currently the industry best practice and the App Store guidelines do not specifically discuss contact information,” Morin said. “However, as mentioned, we believe users need further transparency on how this works, so we’ve been proactively addressing this.”
With ever growing press against the app it is likely that we see changes in Path in the near future.
