ThinkGeek intros iCade 8-bitty Game Controller for iPhone,iPod and iPad

ThinkGeek has launched iCade 8-bitty a game controller designed to work with iPhone, iPod and iPad. Game controller is very much like a classic console controller and will suit those who are used to or came from console background.

Icade 8-bitty connects to iPhone, iPod or iPad via Bluetooth will fully functional d-pad and eight buttons. Two AAA batteries are required to power the controller. Fully compatible will all iCade games including Atari Greatest Hits app for iPad.

Suggested price is $25 and is expected to appear on the shelves later this year.

Apple iPad Pulling Out of Sale in Name Dispute in China

Authorities in Shijiazhuang, southwest of Beijing are seizing Apple iPad because a local company says it owns the name iPad. Similar action is being asked in more than 20 other cities by the company. Shenzhen Proview Technology is a subsidiary of LCD screen maker Proview International Holdings Ltd., headquartered in Hong Kong.

An offical of the economic investigation unit of the city’s Xinhua district says “All the Apple iPads in the big shopping malls and supermarkets have been taken off shelves in Xinhua district,”

Shenzhen Proview registered the iPad name in China in 2001. Apple obviously transferred the name rights for £35,000 but mainland company says it still owns the name in China. A Chinese court ruled out Apple’s complaint that local company was violating its rights to the iPad name.

Soulo Converts iPad or iPhone into Karaoke Machine

Enter Soulo, a software and microphone kit that can turn an iPad, iPhone or iPod into a karaoke machine. App is free on the App Store but you have to pay for the kit which is $69 for the wired and $99 with the wireless microphone. The software app does emulating the sing-along video animation typically found in a commercial karaoke machine.

An initial bundle of 10 songs or so are free then after that you can download a song for $0.99. Audio output options include listening through headphones or other speaker systems via the devices’ stereo jack. The wireless receiver also can connect to a TV. App can be downloaded here.

Tip of the Day: How to Setup iMessage to Receive Messages Across all iOS Devices

iMessage is Apple’s messaging service which works over wi-fi or 3G. Using iMessage you can send messages to people using iPad or iPod. If you own more than one iOS device and you want the ability to use any device to reply to your iMessages then your Apple ID needs to be set up on all devices.

On iPhone iMessages uses phone number by default and you need to make sure that your Apple ID is also set so it can sent across to other devices which are setup using same Apple ID. via iLounge

iPod Nano with 1.3 MP Camera Due for Launch around March/April?

New photos emerged by Taiwanese site Apple.pro with rear facing camera. According to sources the camera is 1.3 mega pixel and it is a two years old prototype. Apple hasn’t changed the iPod Nano series last September and iPod touch only got white model as an addition to black one.

MIC Gadget reports about shutter/overexposure problem with the 1.3 Megapixel camera and that Apple is working on that and they expect a release around March / April Time.

Apple pushed the iPhone release to October overlapping with iPod series launch last year. It is expected that Apple will be launching the new iPod nano and possible iPod Touch refresh as early as March or April time making shift in release timings of these devices.

Deliveries Started to Arrive for iPod Nano Replacement Program

As reported earlier about Apple’s iPod Nano Replacement Program. We heard via Macrumors that deliveries have started to arrive today. This is indeed the current (six generation) iPod Nanos.

Apple started this replacement program after finding a battery heating issue in only 1st generation iPod Nanos. Apple initially replaced 1st generation iPod Nanos with 1st generation refurbished ones but now indeed it’s being replaced by six generation iPod Nanos.  Read more…

Apple is Replacing 1st gen iPod Nano with Six Gen iPod Nano

Apple has started a Replacement Program to replace 1st generation iPods with newer generation iPod Nanos.

Apple says:
Apple has determined that, in very rare cases, the battery in the iPod nano (1st generation) may overheat and pose a safety risk. Affected iPod Nanos were sold between September 2005 and December 2006. Read more…
