
Apple who is known for their secrecy has for the first time published it’s supplier list after criticism is heightening regarding working conditions in Asian factories. It all started a year back when workers at Foxconn committed suicide. “Apple is committed to driving the highest standards for social responsibility throughout our supply base,” the company said in its supplier responsibility report.
According to Apple the company has carried out several audits in factories and found various cases of non-compliance of human rights. Apple has addressed issues like under age labor and exceeding working hours. Tim Cook, chief executive of Apple
“I would like to make a significant improvement in the overtime area. I would like to totally eliminate every case of underage employment,” he added. “This is something we feel very strongly about and we want to eliminate totally.”
