Apple Introduces MAC OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview

Apple introduced today MAC OS X Mountain Lion 10.8, the next major release for it’s desktop operating system. This is first time Apple hasn’t announced a major desktop OS at an event and rather given it out as Developer Preview.

Apple yet again bringing back iOS features like iMessages, Reminders, Notes, Notifications and AirPlay mirroring. OS X Mountain Lion arrives this summer. With all-new features inspired by iPad, the Mac just keeps getting better and better. More updates coming soon.

Tip of the Day: How to Setup iMessage to Receive Messages Across all iOS Devices

iMessage is Apple’s messaging service which works over wi-fi or 3G. Using iMessage you can send messages to people using iPad or iPod. If you own more than one iOS device and you want the ability to use any device to reply to your iMessages then your Apple ID needs to be set up on all devices.

On iPhone iMessages uses phone number by default and you need to make sure that your Apple ID is also set so it can sent across to other devices which are setup using same Apple ID. via iLounge

Apple Updates OS X Lion 10.7.3 with Safari 5.1.3 and Wi-Fi bug fix

Apple releases next iteration of OS X Lion with 10.7.3 update. Safari will be updated to 5.1.3 and among others the most notable is WI-fi bug. My Macbook has had this issue several times and it occurs while waking the OS from sleep. we hope that this issue has been addressed in this release.

The OS X Lion v10.7.3 Update includes:

  • Add Catalan, Croatian, Greek, Hebrew, Romanian, Slovak, Thai, and Ukrainian language support
  • Address issues when using smart cards to log into OS X
  • Address compatibility issues with Microsoft Windows file sharing
  • Address an issue printing Microsoft Word documents that use markup
  • Address a graphics performance issue after sleep on some earlier iMacs that use ATI graphics
  • Resolve a Wi-Fi connection issue when waking from sleep
  • Address an issue that may prevent Safari from opening before joining a wireless network
  • Fix a potential issue authenticating to an SMB DFS share
  • Include RAW image compatibility for additional digital cameras

Bill Gates Letter to Steve Jobs lived on His Bedside

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs

Microsoft’s Bill Gates and Apple’s Steve Jobs were long term rival and a well respected competitor but the relationship they both had wasn’t very imminent.

One of the UK’s leading newspaper Telegraph reports that Steve Job’s widow told Gates about the letter he wrote to Steve meant so much to him that he kept it on his bedside during his final days. Gates and Jobs had met to reminisce and re-connect in the months before Steve’s death due to complications from cancer in October 2011.

Gates says in his letter, “I told Steve about how he should feel great about what he had done and the company he had built. I wrote about his kids, whom I had got to know.

Bill Gates got a phone call from Steve’s widow Laurene Powell Jobs. She said,

“Look, this biography (Steve Jobs Autobiography by Walter Issacson) really doesn’t paint a picture of the mutual respect you had.”

Apple Q1 2012 Results: A Record Breaker

Apple posts record Quarter 1 results across the range of products and it is once again it’s smartphone which drives more sales than any other product. iPhone now counts for more than half of company’s sales. Apple recorded revenues of $46.33 billion and record quarterly net profit of $13.06 billion, or $13.87 per diluted share.

iPhones ramped up to 37 million to create the biggest quarter ever.  iPads crossed 15 million for the first time thanks to thinner lighter iPad 2, and Apple’s Mac line crossed 5 million units. Apple sold record MacBook Airs after company released an 11 inch and 13 inch Macbook Air lineup in 2011.

“We’re thrilled with our outstanding results and record-breaking sales of iPhones, iPads and Macs,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Apple’s momentum is incredibly strong, and we have some amazing new products in the pipeline.”

Apple Bringing LTE, Quad-Core Chip and Retina Display to iPad 3 ahead of iPhone 5

Bloomberg confident in reporting that Apple is set to bring  LTE, Quad-Core A6 processor and Retina Display to iPad 3. Production ramping up for March launch in Apple supplier’s factories. Similar reports have also emerged earlier from Macotakara.

The Cupertino, California-based company has been working on making the iPad compatible with a wireless standard called long- term evolution, or LTE, said one of the people. The company’s manufacturing partners in Asia started ramping up production of the iPad 3 this month and plan to reach full volumes by February, said one of the people, who asked not to be named because the details aren’t public. The tablet will use a quad-core chip, an enhancement that lets users jump more quickly between applications, two of the people said.

iPad has emerged as company’s second biggest revenue source after the iPhone since it’s launch in 2010 by Steve Jobs. Apple has sold more than 40 million iPads, generating at least $25.3 billion in sales. Mass production has started this month with factories running 24 hours a day. There will be a break during Chinese Dragon Year after that the pace for meeting the demand of new iPad will be at it’s highest.

New iPhone 5 Mockup

A new iPhone 5 mockup has been designed by ADR Studios and it looks really cool. New iPhone 5 mockup is much slimmer and inspired by Steve Jobs. It has glass capacitive screen on a polycarbonate lightweight body.

Among other features are 10 mega pixel camera and Apple’s new A6 processor. Overall structure is very much similar like iPhone 4/4S but much thinner and have slightly curved edges.

Two New Versions of iPad are Rumored to be Unveiled in January

DigiTimes reports today that Apple will be launching two new versions of iPad in January next year. An entry level version will compete against cheaper tablets out there like Amazon Kindle Fire and the high end model which will replace the existing iPad2.

Instead of the previously-rumored 7.85-inch, the upcoming iPad models will still feature 9.7-inch screens but come with QXGA resolution (1,536×2,048 pixels), the sources indicated. Dual-LED light bars are designed for the new iPads to strengthen the brightness of the panels, the sources added.
