Telegraph reports today that Apple’s share of the US smartphone market doubled to 44.9 per cent in the final quarter of last year, according to research from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech.
Kantar said that Apple market share is growing at a faster rate than Android in 9 countries including Britain, Australia and the US. These finding came after Apple’s Q1 2012 revenue results.
Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive said: “We made a very bold bet, entering the quarter, as to what the demand would be. And as it turns out, despite it being a very bold bet, we were short of supply throughout the quarter and did end with a significant backlog.”
